Work History: Ara K Hovnanian joined family business, the Hovnanian Enterprises in 1979. He also functioned as the executive vice president in the same company in 1983. By 1988, he was chosen as the president of the company and by 1997, he was bestowed with the title of the chief executive officer of Hovnanian Enterprises.

Education: Ara K Hovnanian completed the graduate program from Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania in 1979. He then resumed studies in business administration and was awarded a degree on the same subject by the University of Pennsylvania.

Bio: Ara K Hovnanian's father was managing the family real estate business in Iraq. However, the unfavorable political situation forced him to flee the country. He set up the same homebuilding business in the United States. Hovnanian Sr was meticulous about education programs and hence, allowed Ara to admittance into the corporate circles only in 1979.

After gaining entry into the firm, Ara had to face taunting chores from his father -a well-known taskmaster. Yet, he strived hard to remain himself footed in the family business. Ara started to concentrate on various paradigms related to homebuilding. Although other companies occupied the top positions, the homes designed and created by Hovnanian Enterprises had a distinctive appealing.

It is fabled that Ara also started to concentrate on providing financial aid to consumers, who were in dire need of homes. Thus, Hovnanian Enterprises began a successful and lucrative career in the homebuilding market. The company followed strict policies and the usual business methodology was to construct newer houses on areas that were bought for a price. Hovnanian Enterprises also specialized in building custom houses as per the requirements of clients. Under the insightful leadership of Ara K Hovnanian, the annual profits began to surge higher and within years, Hovnanian Enterprises took the sixth place among existing homebuilding corporations in the country.

Ara K Hovnanian had to bear the brunt of certain careless mistakes that were executed by the high level management. During occasions, the quality of the houses that were built by the enterprise also came under direct fire.
