Work History: Lalitha Gupte was enlisted as a trainee in the Project Appraisal Department of ICICI Ltd in 1971. Over the course of years, she held many important positions within the same institution. She was bestowed the post of the Joint Managing Director of ICICI Bank in 2001. By 2007, she was deployed as a board member of Nokia, world's largest mobile phone manufacturer. At present, she is also acting as the chairperson of Board of the ICICI venture.

Education: Lalitha Gupte secured her BA from the University of Mumbai. She yearned to augment her career in the niche of business administration. Yielding to her desires, she joined Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai.

Bio: Lalitha was a prominent character who helped in shaping a good future for ICICI Ltd. ICICI Ltd became ICICI Bank Ltd, thanks to her genuine efforts. Even during her early days in the same company, she displayed a promising career. For instance, she held talks with the New York Stock Exchange management regularly with the very intention of listing the shares of ICICI. The popularity of the company began to surge overnight.

Lalitha also helped to develop an international presence for ICICI Ltd. Those who are already in the industry might be aware of the hardships of streamlining international operations. In fact, Lalitha began to incorporate cosmopolitan strategies in India - her peers not exactly welcome these measures. Ironically, the masses began to queue up in front of ICICI branches to reap the profits. Effectively, she could impart a new banking standard in India, which was swiftly copied by the others to remain in business.

Despite having started their banking operations only recently, ICICI still leads in the gross income levels. Despite facing plethora of challenges throughout her career, Lalitha did not falter. In 1997, the Twenty First Century for Finance and Banking was awarded to her. The Women Graduates' Association in 2001 also handed her out the Best Women Achiever Award. The International Women's' Association, likewise, commented on her industriousness by presenting the Women of the Year award in 2002.
