Bio: Intelligence and perseverance can be utilized for a fulfilling career - this is the lesson that one can learn from the doings of Mr. Khattar. Most of the Indians cherish the dream of becoming as an IAS officer - fate acted in an ulterior manner for Jagdish Khattar. Despite spending a large share of his career life occupying various principle positions representing the Indian government, he could excel well as the Managing Director of Maruti Udyog Limited (MUL).
Despite being born in a family that consisted of many entrepreneurs, Jagdish could realize the same only later in his life. Soon after leaving MUL, he began to test the Indian markets by opening up a multi-auto sales and service chain. The intention was primitive - to cater for the requirements of all motor vehicle owners in India. The practice is already prevalent in the western markets; however, in India earlier ventures highlighting the same business model met with failures.
Only time will reveal whether this was an appropriate step. However, the achievements of Mr. Khattar reflect a positive outcome for this business venture. In 2003, he was awarded the Manager Entrepreneur by Ernest and Young. In 2006, the National HRD Network, India bestowed him with the Pathfinder CEO of the Year. CNBC Auto Car and NDTV Profit likewise, selected him as the Man of the Year (2008).
