Lawrence J Ellison

Nationality: American

Year of Birth: 1944

Work History: Lawrence acted as the vice president of research and development wing of Precision Instruments from 1976 to 1977. By 1977, he found himself working with Software Development Laboratories (which was later christened as Oracle Corporation). He donned the role of the president, the chairperson of Oracle, before being chosen as the chief executive officer in the same company - a post that is still being held by him today.

Education: Lawrence attended graduate programs in University of Illinois and University of Chicago. Although a bright student, who was meticulous with study programs, he is not a graduate - he dropped out of college on two occasions and went on to build his own software company.

Bio: Lawrence J Ellison is currently the CEO of Oracle Corporation - a company that specializes in the development and deployment of software for enterprises. His company primarily released various flavors of database management utilities. In spite of many initial setbacks, Lawrence surged ahead ignoring the oddities. An idealist by nature, he was also well known for his lavish lifestyles. Humble beginnings with no one to aid him (except for a bunch of colleagues) did not deter him from clambering pinnacles.

Not everyone who had worked with him in Oracle liked the manner with which he handled situations. On countless occasions, highly placed employees within the company submitted their resignation letters - voluntarily. Lawrence used to take risks with the future of the corporation; he assimilated the potentials of the internet and understood the vast business opportunities that can be acculturated. He had this unlikely affinity to get distracted from important tasks. A notable incident is the Oracle America's Cup Campaign - critics blame Lawrence for ignoring core duties in the company and attributing time for such eccentricities.

Oracle Corporation was the result of countless years of painstaking research; Lawrence had set up two other software industries before merging them into Oracle. He had worked with the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) to develop complex databases during his initial days. Lawrence is also known to sponsor various yacht-sporting events such as the BMW Oracle Racing.
